Day 100 -- Saturday 31 December 2016

The final lap!

Definitely the coldest day of the hundred to end with. Finished up with frost on my arms!

Nearly done now!

Still cold, but running is enjoyable. Repeated part of earlier route and stretch towards Couleuvre.

Day 98 -- Thursday 29 December 2016

Getting my bearings

Still staying local on increasingly familiar D14 road. The locals are quite bemused by a strange figure in shorts charging up the frosty road!

Day 97 -- Wednesday 28 December 2016

From Gennetines

Started at the same point, but ventured farther afield, towards Saint-Plaisir. Very cold, frost on trees, but a pleasant run.

Day 96 -- Tuesday 27 December 2016

Don't go too far!

First one in France. Late at night after driving almost 400 miles. Kept to multiple repetitions of a short up-and-down route, so as not to get lost on foggy, unfamiliar lanes!

Last one in England

Finished off the UK runs with a favourite route in Sandwich.

Day 90 -- Wednesday 21 December 2016

Don't forget to stop the watch!

Through the Sandwich Estate to Courtenay Road and back. Forgot to stop the watch - aarrgghh!! - so it recorded the car journey home too! Screenshot here, therefore, is from an earlier run on the same route and actual run time through 10KM was 45:35.

In Sandwich, including a stretch of Woodnesborough Road, which is becoming a favourite route.

Up and down the 'patron saint' roads off Hereson Road, plus Muir, Montefiore and Warten on the other side.

Back in Sandwich, including a long stretch of Woodnesborough Road.

Drove out to the Ridings and ran out-and-back along Margate seafront. Time was 45:25, Garmin still not functioning properly but a very enjoyable run.

Haine and track

Did over half of this one around the industrial estate and finished with a few laps of the track as juniors were warming up.

Day 69 -- Wednesday 30 November 2016

Round the block!

I've been meaning to try this for a while to test the boredom threshold! Eight laps of the school block - Holly Road, College Road and St Luke's Avenue - is almost exactly 10KM.

A regular route now around Sandwich, but included extra cul-de-sac loops off Richborough Road.

Manston Tesco

Round the main roads and a big loop around Manston Tesco car parks!

Day 59 -- Sunday 20 November 2016

Sandwich with the head torch

These are becoming some of my favourite roads to run on. I'll get some serious speed up here in the spring.

Day 58 -- Saturday 19 November 2016

Splashing through the streets

Wind and heavy rain, with Storm Angus apparently on its way. Up and down a few parallel roads off Hereson to get a bit of shelter.

Day 50 -- Friday 11 November 2016

Halfway there!

Straight up the Margate Road to the Victoria Lights and back on the other side of the road. Managed to overtake a cyclist by Hornby on the way back. Halfway now - 50 x 10KM runs done!

Day 49 -- Thursday 10 November 2016

Day 45 -- Sunday 6 November 2016

Bouncing Back!

On an out-and-back route through the Sandwich Bay Estate, I managed to run the second fastest 10KM since this project began. Nearly halfway now and starting to wonder what time I could run if I put the hammer down one day.

Day 44 -- Saturday 5 November 2016

Hitting the Deck!

Oh dear! I didn't spot a low chain fence like this one, as I cut across to a path. I cut my ankle and landed on my chin, shoulder and knee! No major harm done, luckily, but I need to get my head torch back into service!

Out to the Nethercourt Estate and included the hills of the five avenues from Coniston to Windermere.

In the Dark Again

Back in Thanet for an evening run taking in parts of Broadstairs and Ramsgate.

Day 35 -- Thursday 27 October 2016

Late Night in Sandwich

My latest run for a long time, not setting out until 10pm, but it got done! Running on dark roads reminded me to post this short video.

Day 34 -- Wednesday 26 October 2016

After the 3KM

I'd already done a gentle 3KM run with someone before heading out on 'my' run, so I'm not concerned with the relatively slow time. Another day ticked off.

Day 33 -- Tuesday 25 October 2016

Hartsdown and Margate Seafront

Felt pretty good running up Fort Hill in the middle of this evening's run. It's not to be feared!

On the Golf Road from Deal, through the Sandwich Bay Estate and beyond.

Day 29 -- Friday 21 October 2016

Day 28 -- Thursday 20 October 2016

After yesterday's fastest yet, with a restorative massage at Health Solutions afterwards, today's run was a relatively sedate one in the regular Thursday evening area.

Day 27 -- Wednesday 19 October 2016

From Sandwich town centre, out-and-back on the deserted Richborough Road. Somehow managed to record the fastest time yet on this series of runs.

Through St Peter's Churchyard

Out to Charles Dickens School, then footpaths out and back via the farm tracks and alleyways.

Day 23 -- Saturday 15 October 2016

Saturday evening on Margate seafront

Started at the end of Palm Bay Avenue by the Ridings and ran out-and-back along seafront past the Turner Centre and clubs. Good to dip under 45:00 again, especially as I had to come up Fort Hill on the return leg. Must have been inspired by the juniors at Stanhill Farm this morning!

Mixed it up with straights and some twisting sections. Out past Dane Court, the Harvester, Northwood Road, Margate Road, Boundary Road, St Luke's etc.

Day 21 -- Thursday 13 October 2016

Haine and Newington Estates

Industrial estate plus roads around Newington before junior track session. Not an inspiring route, but it got the run done!

Day 20 -- Wednesday 12 October 2016

Busy local roads

Three laps of 2.8KM circuit round Whitehall Road, Newington Road and Margate Road, with the extra bit up towards the station and back. Already dark when started at 18:20, so stayed on well-lit route.

Day 19 -- Tuesday 11 October 2016

Out past the Viking Ship

Out-and-back route from the town end of Royal Esplanade. Through Pegwell and across the field by Chilton Tavern towards the Viking Ship and beyond.

Day 18 -- Monday 10 October 2016

From Strand Street, Sandwich

Starting opposite Sandwich Cricket Club entrance, past the Quay and out towards Sandwich Bay. Then back into Ash Road and Richborough Road area. Change of surroundings brought fastest time so far.

Day 17 -- Sunday 9 October 2016

Seafront run with hills

Ramsgate seafront, including long stretch along Eastern Undercliff. Decent run, especially as there were two ascents of Nero's Hill thrown in.

Day 16 -- Saturday 8 October 2016

Day 14 -- Thursday 6 October 2016

Thursday Evening is Track Time!

A few track laps and plenty of running on grass - school field and Jackey Baker's. This is probably going to be the regular Thursday routine before junior sessions.

Day 13 -- Wednesday 5 October 2016

West Cliff into the Wind

Royal Esplanade, London Road, Chilton and Pegwell, plus promenade. Long straights where I'll be doing KM-reps in the Spring!

Day 12 -- Tuesday 4 October 2016

Hartsdown Park

From car park 2 at Hartsdown, all on grass. Incorporated part of the junior group's warm up, so a slow middle section, but good to run a little with the 'young guns'!

Day 11 -- Monday 3 October 2016

In and around the Newington Estate

From Royal Harbour Academy car park, taking in the Haine Road Industrial Estate and much of the Newington Estate.

Day 10 -- Sunday 2 October 2016

Pegwell Country Park

Starting opposite the Sportsman in Cliffsend. Three times through the country park to the main road and back round the Parkrun loop, plus a bit at the end to get the 10KM in. Slowed down slightly by having to open the kissing gate latch three times!

Day 9 -- Saturday 1 October 2016

Splashing through the Puddles

5K out past Brompton and Dane Court, turning around on path between St Peter's Church and Draper's Mill. Back across Newlands Farm and through the alleys to West Dumpton.

Day 6 -- Wednesday 28 September 2016

Ramsgate Harbour Walls

Had to squeeze the run in before a tutors' meeting (and only just made it back in time!) To the seafront, past the Montefiore mausoleum and incorporated both arms of Ramsgate Harbour into a very enjoyable run.

Day 5 -- Tuesday 27 September 2016

The 'Back Field'

Stayed on-site today. Great to run on grass and did much of the run without shoes. Totally destroyed a previously perfectly good pair of Asics running socks, but it felt good to connect with the ground more directly for a change!

Day 4 -- Monday 26 September 2016

Discovery Park

Drove out to Pegwell Nature Reserve and ran from there to Discovery Park and back. A couple of long straight sections led to me running faster than planned at times, but a pleasant run. Spotted SLC minibus heading towards Sandwich on my way back!

Day 3 -- Sunday 25 September 2016

Back into Daylight

Third one done today. Pretty uneventful, but churchgoers and visitors to war memorial were pretty surprised to see a lone runner chugging around a field a few times before disappearing off up the road. Back closer to home tomorrow.

Day 2 -- Saturday 24 September 2016

Running in the Dark

Set out really early this morning, to get the run done; the first of two across the Channel. Not a soul around and it was still dark when I got back. Pretty slow, but that's to be expected when you can't quite see where you're going!

Day 1 -- Friday 23 September 2016

One Down, Ninety-Nine to Go

So, I'm off and running, if you'll excuse the pun. The first of my one hundred 10KM runs on consecutive days, leading up to New Year's Eve, took place this morning, setting out just before 06:00.

For those who've enquired about how long it might take, this morning's run was 10.02KM in 46:53, but it's not about the time at all. Some will be faster, some slower, but the important thing is that I get them all done. I'll be posting screenshots from my Garmin here after exeat for any statistics geeks or running enthusiasts who want to see the data.

If you'd like to sponsor me in this venture, please use the link in the top right corner of this page. All money raised will go to Help Refugees, who work in partnership with the French charity l'Auberge des Migrants, providing direct aid in Calais and beyond. Thanks for your support.
